Had General All Terraine's on the truck before. The Rock Proofs are actually quieter than them. Traction is great, wear is great, had to rotate more at first to eliminate cupping (heavy truck with a diesel engine) but love the tires.

Nokian designs and produces high-end tires for cars, trucks, buses, and heavy-duty equipment. Their mission is to enable the world to drive more intelligently. No matter the road conditions, they create cutting-edge products that give you confidence behind the wheel, drawing inspiration from their Scandinavian background.
The Nokian Rockproof is an all-terrain tire that is designed for Jeeps, light trucks, SUVs, and off-road use. For those who drive professionally and for off-road enthusiasts, these tires offer exceptional durability.
But, is it the best tire for your vehicle and your budget? Let's take a look at a review of Nokian Rockproof to see if it's the right tire for you.
Features and Benefits
Drivers of Jeeps, light trucks, and SUVs who drive off-road from time to time need to make sure their tires are built to handle different roads. Fortunately, all-terrain tires are built with these drivers in mind. By learning about the features and benefits of Nokian Rockproof tires, you can determine whether these tires will improve the performance of your vehicle.
- Better rugged terrain traction: An aggressive footprint with wide grooves and staggered block arrangement increases traction on soft, loose, and uneven terrain. Even when the tire is operating through deep mud, these tread portions give it the grip it needs to keep moving forward steadily. While stone ejectors remove rocks, the smart groove placement scatters snow and mud from the tire to further enhance traction.
- Solid all-season traction: An all-season rubber compound and intricate tread pattern improve the tire's traction in dry, wet, and light winter conditions. Stronger rubber compounds maintain the tire’s flexibility in a range of temperatures. Additionally, studs can be added to the footprint for more winter traction where permitted. In rainy situations, the wide groove placement spreads out water and slush from the footprint to prevent hydroplaning and boost traction.
- Heavy-duty controllability: The footprint maintains constant surface contact to improve driving stability and steering response. On the other hand, the stronger aramid fiber construction preserves the tire's optimum shape under load and driving pressure. This significantly improves the total load durability. Additionally, this supports solid and precise handling.
- Enhanced durability: For difficult driving situations, Aramid Sidewall technology offers a great level of toughness and protection. Synthetic Aramid fibers strengthen the sidewall of the tire and increase the tire’s resistance to abrasions and cuts that might otherwise easily break it.
- Stone ejectors to improve tread life: Sharp stones cannot penetrate the tire's structure by adhering to the tread surface, thanks to stone ejectors. This prevents stone retention while also ensuring that the footprint is not obstructed when performing. Moreover, stone ejectors lengthen the tire's useful life by avoiding tire body damage.
Pros and Cons
So, is it a good fit for your Jeep, truck, or SUV? Before giving our final opinion, let's first look at its Pros and Cons:
- Aggressive tread design with hybrid rubber compound that adds cut and chip resistance for off-road driving.
- All-season tread pattern to boost dry, wet, and light winter weather traction.
- Red sidewall, on select sizes, for stylish looks
- Stone ejectors to remove rocks, stones, and other debris from the tire.
- Armaid sidewall technology protects the sidewall from cuts and other damages.
- Wide groove placement to fend off water and slush from the tread’s footprint to reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
- Additionally, studs can be added (where permitted) for more winter traction.
Despite having all of these features and benefits, the Nokian Rockproof tire could be better in some areas, such as:
- These tires do not have a mileage warranty.
- Might be a little loud on the highway

Only problem I have with these tires is there isn't a manufacturer warranty. But other than that I will be purchasing these again when it's time.
excellent handling in all terrains, just really noisy in highway
Love them so far. But be sure to check the details, I thought I was getting the red letters but turns out that's only available in a few sizes. Haven't been through winter yet but I hear they do good.
I drive a lot of gravel roads and seems to be less rock stuck in treads. I am looking for tires that stand up better on gravel and that remains to be seen yet this soon. I wanted a 10 ply/Load range E and you then also get 2/32 more tread to start with.
