I ran two of these on my Demco Kar Kaddy. I towed a Kia Soul (2700 pounds) on them for about 500 miles. No problem. I then tried to tow my Ford Ranger 4x4 XLT (3800 pounds) on the tow dolly, and one tire failed in about 350 miles. Luckily the bubble on the side of the tire held until I reached my destination, but the tire was losing air pressure. I was towing the truck across the desert between Flagstaff AZ and Cortez CO. Lots of open highway - almost no vehicle services. I wouldn't recommend these tires at all, especially for weights anywhere near their maximum weight capacity which is 1764 pounds. Remember, on my tow dolly, the rear tires are on the pavement so not all the weight of the vehicle is distributed between the two dolly tires. For the most part I have never had much luck with ST (trailer) tires. I'm not sure a good set of truck tires wouldn't do as good and last much longer.

Very happy with this tire on boat trailer. Doesn't squeal, ride is very smooth. Experience with Simpletire has been great- price and quick delivery.

Get technical:

Hi-Run's JK42 Trailer is a winter trailer tire that's meant for campers, utility trailers, and boat trailers. A high ply rating increases strength and durability, and the JK42 Trailer's tread pattern boosts traction for solid grip. A radial construction lowers road noises and vibrations to create a quiet, comfortable ride for drivers and passengers, and the JK42 Trailer's reinforced construction allows for a higher load carrying capacity.

Features & Benefits

  • Designed for use on utility trailers, boat trailers, and campers; not approved for use on passenger vehicles
  • Radial construction ensures high comfort and low road noise
  • Reinforced construction enhances strength and durability for a higher load carrying capacity and longer tread life
  • Tread pattern increases traction and handling performance year-round
  • Engineered for use in winter weather conditions; should not be used when temperatures are consistently above 45 degrees Fahrenheit
